Not Just a Year Older, But a Year Better

Wow. It has officially been one year since mock-off.com was launched! I really can't believe it. The idea to find and provide easy access to designer knock offs for the masses was born in January of 2009 and the site was born 5 short months later.

I never dreamed the site would have this sort of response. I must thank each of you, my loyal readers, followers and fans. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

As a special thank you, I thought I would feature my very first mock-off - this beautiful Tiffany bracelet:

Here's to many more years of bringing you designer inspired looks!

A Hipster's Dream

I usually stay away from posting on Sunday mornings, but this one somehow seems relevant. Most Sunday mornings in my place are spent browsing home design blogs. One of my favorites is The Selby, a blog that showcases the living spaces of artists, models, designers, writers and other creative professionals. Todd Selby started the blog in 2008 and many dream to be featured on the popular site. A lucky few have been featured in a brand new book, The Selby Is In Your Place.

Some call The Selby The Satatorialist for the hipster set. I tend to agree and browsing through this colorful coffee table guide solidifies those thoughts. Selby has captured the creative spaces of many in the fashion crowd including Erin Wasson, Helena Christensen, Christian Louboutin and Karl Lagerfeld. (The cost of the book alone is worth a glimpse into Lagerfeld's book filled studio!)

As a lover of all things vintage, I loved flipping through the book and admiring the quirky collections of other vintage loving types. It makes me want to drop everything and head to the nearest Goodwill in search of treasures! I suppose that's what Sundays are for, afterall.

The book is a must for any coffee table (it even comes with stickers!). Order your copy today!

Everyone Loves a Sale

Sure, I devote my time to finding designer inspired knock-off pieces for you, but that doesn't mean that I don't love the occasional designer dress. And when said dress is on sale I tend to jump for joy.

That is why I love the site 365 Hangers. Their team stylists work hard to find designer pieces and provide them at a fraction of original retail price. Take this cute Marc Jacobs dress. Original price was $298 and they are selling it for just $89!

While they don't have a ton of sizes for each item, they do have extended sizes (YES!) for those of us who don't quite fit into a size 2. MUCH easier than digging through the sale racks at department stores to find deals!

In order to stay in the know on great deals I suggest signing up for their emails or following them on twitter (@365hangers). Happy hunting!

Can't resist this Anthropogie dress

Recently I found myself browsing the racks of my favorite retailer, Anthropologie. I love the store, I really do, but I can't say that I have purchased much. I always find myself in the fitting rooms wondering "what would I wear this with?". I decided to challenge myself and came up with a fun look for colorful summer dress. What would you wear with it?
White Cardigan ($68) - Anthropologie
High Seas Dress ($138) - Anthropologie
Wicker Clutch ($63) - Endless.com

Patch Things Up

We have all been a situation where we need a quick way to patch up our jeans. Not long ago, I found myself in a desperate situation to fix my favorite pair. I was elated to find a cheap iron-on patch at Michaels. Unfortunately, the patch fell off after just one wash.

Recently I discovered Johnny Patch, a new brand of iron on patches that actually stay on. Instead of scratchy synthetic material, these patches are made of recycled denim. Coming in a range of washes, they have a jean patch for virtually every pair you can imaging. I suggest stocking up on a range of colors because you never know when you are going to need a quick patch! At only $9 (shipping included) they are the perfect way to keep your designer jeans as good as new. If only I had discovered this before wasting my money at Michaels!

Johnny Patch also sells iron on butt pockets, great for updating an old pair of jeans or covering an unsightly hole.

Next time you are in need of a denim fix, I suggest Johnny Patch!

You are cordially invited to save some money

I have a confession to make. Each morning I get up, turn on the computer and prepare to start browsing sample sale websites. I wait patiently for the clock to turn to 9 (12, if you are an east coaster) and then I am off! Whether I’m racing for Alexander McQueen pumps on Gilt, or vintage Chanel jewelry on Billion Dollar Babes, or Spanx on Rue La La, I am focused and determined. These sample sales get my blood flowing.

It seems everyday more and more of these sites, providing designer pieces at a substantial discount, are popping up. The concept is great for those of us who don’t have access to famous designer sample sales held in NYC and LA. I have found everything from make-up bags, to sunglasses to cardigans to underwear, all marked down. These sites are even starting to sell travel packages to popular destinations at amazing rates,

Most of the programs are accessible by invite only, and all cost nothing to join. You will receive a daily email along with the brands that will be featured that day. Be sure to pay attention to the starting time, as they vary. (Convenient, as many items sell out within minutes of going live). So get your credit cards ready, because I’m inviting you to join them all. Simply click on the links below, fill out the info and you are ready to go!
